I remember watching an interview with Martin Lewis years ago where he said he found a really nice bunch of flowers in a petrol station that had been reduced to 9p, so he bought them for his wife. He said most husbands would have ripped the yellow sticker off so their wife wouldn’t think they were being cheap and feel insulted, but Martin said he left the sticker on because he knew his wife would be more impressed by the fact that he’d found such a great bargain than by the fact that he bought her flowers
