Ever since Dwayne Johnson bought the license to The Fast and The Furious it immediately went downhill and had nothing to do with the heart and soul of these beautiful movies. I'm certain that Paul Walker would have stopped being part of the movies since he actually loved cars instead of all the weapons and war machines they're showing off now. One way to alienate the original "legacy". I bet the movies would still be a box-office hit if things stayed more intimate and true to the core of F&F.
I think the most significant proof is how many people won't know the exact storyline of movies 6 and 8 without asking "Was that the one where they..." but will know exactly what happened in movies 1-3.
