I teach an iPhone class for senior citizens at our local library. This time I've got an 85 yr old woman who has a VERY old, very small iPhone. I didn't check the model, but she's wanting to upgrade since the battery life, as you'd expect at this point, is shot. She doesn't take pictures or do much other than texting her kids and using the phone. I'm going to suggest this 16E for two reasons. 1- the price 2 - she wouldn't use the other (missing) features anyway.

Since 2020, MagSafe and ultrawide camera have been absolutely iconic for iPhones. The 16e sticks out like a sore thumb.

🐬 That phone is for people on a budget! If you don’t have $1200 or more to spend get this iPhone instead. If you do not like MagSafe charging you will love this phone! I love using MagSafe! However, I just only use it when I am on the go or needing a quick charge. Most of the time I use the USB-C port with a USB-C cable and power outlet. I like to use the Apple duel USB-C charger.

When I bought my first (and still) iPhone, a 13, off eBay in December, 2021, I would have loved to buy this instead and save the $200.
Add a MagSafe case, and it has everything I need 364 days of the year.

"Free" phone? Sure, if you want a 3 year contract on a $90 phone plan. Mine is $25 a month, and I'm pretty peeved that Apple raised the entry level price 40%.

Other than the C1 modem, Apple cobbled together a phone using left over parts from the past and put a high price sticker on it. And those who buy this phone will volunteer to be lab rat to test C1 chip.
