“Do what I tell you to do machine!!!” -Windows OS will remember this.

I think it can help new players in a tutorial but it can be dangerous as they start to learn habits and don’t make decisions based on the game state because they are being told what’s “correct” to do every game

I can tolerate if they put "Noob friendly system" in the game. I just can't tolerate if you cannot turn it off. Like in BTD6 you can choose whether to turn on or off the tips notifications, it would be good if they implemented this system.

Honestly, I really appreciated the jungle pathing when I got autofilled as a jungler, because I jave no idea what to do there, but you deffinitely should be able to turn it off.

Can we just talk about the AoE2 clip there, i just love that game and i wonder how some league streamers would do there, they clearly have the skill

The thing is league is already really hard to get into if you are a new player. If you are a laner at least you know where to go but jungle is even more complicated so i think it was mainly for new players

As someone who tried to play jungle during smite (the game), I really liked how league does have the recommended pathing and that you can turn it off. Obviously a tutorial on the jungle would be much better, but the recommended pathing for new players really demystifies jungle and allows new players to even attempt it. And it only lasts for the first jungle clear, after which it automatically turns off, I understand where Azzap is coming from but with the trash we have rn with regards to the tutorial, I think it’s fairly solid.

its legit one of the best things they've added to the game, you know how fucking difficult this game is as a new player? imagine you also have to think about what items / runes are the correct ones to take or how to clear your jungle. If ur good at the game you should know how to optimize these things, but for the average league player its been one of the greatest additions to league.

Bro is legit complaining about noob friendly design cus he aint a noob at the game "I know these things so why tf are they telling me about them".
What he should complain about in his case is that there isnt a button to turn these things off for the 0.01% of people it actually pisses off.

I usually agree with Azzap takes but this one is such a big L.

We're already complaining about League being a stagnating game, new people just don't want to play league because of how long it takes to learn everything. One of the first things you learn when designing any kind of product is to assume the user is going to be stupid.

It doesn't matter if you revamp the tutorial and teach people what to do, you still need to assume that some people will get assigned Jungle and do a longsword stat and walk down midlane because they don't know what they're doing, even people who've played the tutorial can come back into the game and forget about how jungle worked, or they could change the starter items and some people would be lost as to what start they should do.

League is already a very hard time to learn, which requires a very big investment, and I'd argue even a bigger one than it did back in the day because of its obsolete controls. Let's not try and make it even harder to learn than it already is by removing stuff you can either disable or just tune out of.

Then again, every good player of any game seems to want their game to turn into this perpetual circlejerk where only 15 people enjoy the game, so I guess it makes sense

Noob Friendly/New User Friendly/Beginner friendly systems are meant to help people start to get an understanding of the game, so they can make their own decisions later on and think for themselves.

You don't like these systems, because you already have that understanding that so many people lack. You likely didn't have them when you first started and was forced into a trial and error methodology until you understood what you do now.

To me, this has the same mentality of "I had to go through this, so should you" and that's kinda toxic.

You can turn the recommended jungle pathing indicator off. It's a non-issue and it actually helps new players to understand where they have to go. Just because we had a miserable time learning this game doesn't mean we have to make it harder or equally as hard on the new gen coming in.

When you describe what you think is good, that is used friendly design, not the loud bells and whistles telling you what is going on.

I fully agree but for a different reason. I hate it because people who use it become reliant on it and refuse to actually think of better outputs. For example, if you use Facecheck, many players will brain dead but what items it says and then wonder why their build of deadman’s and thorn mail is doing nothing into full AP.

yeah arena afk warning is stupid since it will pop up if you dont move for 5 seconds longer than the in between rounds last

The reason why these are good features is because some players straight up just don't wanna learn and just play for fun. I have a friend that used porofessor so much that he didn't even knew what half of the items do or when building them is bad or good even though he was like lvl 200. Of course a hyper competitive player hates features like that, but they are good features. It makes the game more appealing to more people.

The core message of "noob friendly design is not good in a competitive ranked game" is good.
But there is an important distinction between "user friendly design" and "noob friendly design".

being able to learn faster so you dont have to stay at the stage of helplessly doing nothing for longer helps

Rare Azzapp L unfortunately. Having an adequate UI is as important as the gameplay itself, especially if you plan on getting any new players into the game. As a person coming from dota 2 I can confidently say that UI in league is absolutely dogshit in comparison. Even now you essentially have to download an additional software just to track jungle timings and it is absolutely wild but necessary if you play jungle. He sounds like an old man complaining about the fact that youths now have it easier and it shouldn't be a thing. I hope later on he will understand how deeply incorrect he was on that topic.
