What a wonderful man who gave his entire life to this country. Everyone affected by this deserves an apology and compensation. And most importantly, for this to never be forgotten so it doesn't happen again.

Thank you for introducing us to this wonderful man.
One thing that I hate about this country is the complete lack of compassion, empathy and generosity towards people who have suffered because of official errors and incompentence. I'd like all the victims of recent scandals - Windrush, Post Office, contaminated blood products, plus those wrongly convicted of crimes - to be given full recompense of the losses they were caused together with a truly generous amount of compensation, and I'd like it to be done very soon.

The idea of teaching British colonial history is a great one. As a son of Irish immigrants I went to the best Catholic grammar school in Birmingham but in all my years there where I studied history to A level I was taught all about Henry the eighth and absolutely bugger all about the interlinked history of the British empire and Ireland
The knowledge of the average British person about the British involvement in Ireland is an absolute joke and the ignorance of the partition of Ireland has been a major factor in the Troubles breaking out and continuing so long. I went to school with west Indian lads and my Mammy, a midwifery Sister for over 25 years in the NHS, had the privilege of working with some wonderful west Indian nurses who went on to become firm family friends. Again I was taught nothing about the West Indies or the Windrush generation.
Labour need to watch this chap and implement the requests asap

There isn't a day that goes by when I don't think about the Windrush Scandal and particularly Theresa May who signed off the "hostile environment policy" during her time as Home Secretary. Horrific & Shocking. Thank you for creating this video and bringing more awareness to the plight of these British citizens.

Very powerful, thank you. Please make an updated video on the latest disgraceful events on the Stephen Lawrence situation.

Phenomenal, whole heartedly agree. It's been long enough for the country to step back from it's past and tell it from both sides.

Couldnt agree more. Also with the ending sentiment. My god can we please add the British Empire to the curriculum at schools!! It played a massive part in shaping modern western civilization for gods sake, for good and bad. And we learn absolutely nothing about it! Its ridiculous and infuriating. Spent a whole year on the roman empire yet i dont remember our own empire even being mentioned!

Thank you for your service sir. It is a shameful situation which should never have happened 😢. Government needs to put this right. Now.

Well done LBD 👏👏👏. A shameful betrayal which, as the gentleman says, they hope will simply peter out as the number of those left alive steadily dwindles.
We see the same time and time again in the post office scandal and the 1950s women.
Never let them get away with this.

I love this country, and loving this country means stomaching our problems for our country's good and not blindly following the whims of racist politicians.

Algorithm. Thank you Sidney for telling your story, and LBD for platforming it.

Sidney's dignity should be an illustration to all of us about just how easy it is for us to forget our history & slip into casual racism. This government should be ashamed about how it has sought to make immigration a "wedge" issue, instead of dealing with the issues it creates, in a adult & civilised manner.

Nothing made me more ashamed of the UK than Windrush, not even Partygate. And for all the sympathy Theresa May gets for being ousted - she started it, so good enough for her

I've seen some comments say, the past was the past so all the stuff the UK did is now irrelevant. Unbelievable. It's like these people deserve the same treatment, so their perpetrators after time get away with it. And we live in a world that people know know after time it will be forgotten.

Great piece, thanks. There is nothing British or patriotic about scapegoating or maligning people of a different skin colour or religious faith. We have had decades, even centuries, of immigrants to the UK not least because at one time we militarily conquered and subjugated most other countries across the world. It's past the time for our politicians to start behaving like adults and stop discriminating against minority communities for any reason and spreading hate and discontent. As a nation we are surely better than that and we owe a debt of gratitude to anyone who has come to this country and contributed like this gentleman.
