Most consider the cost very affordable and a good investment for any serious gold buyer. It is comparable in price to the other electronic testers on the market, if not less expensive, but most importantly it is accurate and the other testers most say are not.

Gel testers are messy and the ones with a brown chemical are the worst. Of course acid is cheap to use, but the results must be interpreted which takes experience. It is very slow and very dangerous. The GemOro AuRACLE testers are very fast, safe and not messy at all. They are simple to use and considered the best on the market, while making all other gold testers in their class obsolete.

If the pen is not working property (always do pre-test calibration to ensure accurate results) you can buy a replacement pen (remember to always keep the tip of the pen clean with a paper towel)

The AGT1, new AGT1 PLUS, AGT2 and new AGT3 all can identify gold plate and gold filled very easily as NA or NOT GOLD.
