The easiest way to get a pedal off of your bike?

My pedal was stuck on my crank this morning so I took the opportunity to film a short clip about the easiest way to get it off! The rubber mallet is a shop essential, but a lot of folks will hit the wrench without holding onto it - leading it to go flying off and potentially damage the frame.

Reality for most people: misses with hammer or slips off that skinny allen key. Smashes carbon frame. Happy trails!

I just tried that to super stuck peddals and it worked!! One took about 6/7 goes but I gave it a good wack and it worked. Thank you!!

I should have tried that, a couple months ago i was working on a bike with incredibly stuck pedals and everything wouldnt work, so I strapped the opposite crank to the chainstay, and got a massive tube for leverage and had to pull more than my bodyweight for it to come loose.

Thanks for the tip! Small cheater bar and lubricant is what I've always done with success.

I should have done that when I was fixing the chainring, the bolts were on so tight so I had to use my full strength to turn the Allen key and all that power went straight into the chainring as I punched it with my knuckle. Though I didn’t end up with too bad of an injury I still got a memorable lesson

Any tips for a pedal that might have rust in it, it tried this, didn’t work, tried pb blaster, didn’t work so any tips?

In another how-to video, the bike is right side up, the wrench pointing up is then turned toward the back of the bike to get either left or right pedal off. To help you remember,

Shouldn't it be recommended to use a pedal wrench as that method may break the hex?

Pb blaster + 1 minute seems easier, and wont bend a hex key
