The Perception Conduit 13.5 is probably the best open water kayak for the money. They are a bit slower than the 14-16-17's, but they aren't so slow that you become fatigue. They aren't too wide, but also are nor to narrow. The Perception Conduit 13.5 is just a fun kayak to be out on the water in. Whether your short distance paddling, or taking a day trip. I've also had the Conduit 13.5 out in 7' swells after storms, and boy are they playful! I have to hand it to the designer's at Perception, because the Conduit 13.5 can pretty much do it all. I'd even go as far as to consider the Conduit 13.5 a crossover kayak, balancing between a 14-14.5 sea kayak & a 11-12 recreational kayak. The Conduit 13.5 is the best of both worlds.

My first boat was a 17.5 ft Perception Sea Lion. I still adventure in it. A friend has one as well. It does do better with a rudder but is fast and efficient for long journeys, easy enough to wrangle for an afternoon on the lake, and floats in about 5" of water. I've had it up narrow streams, on creeks, rivers, lakes, bays and open ocean. It is decades old and still awesome.

A friend has two 12' Perception Prodigies, nice rec boats, very comfortable, roomy cockpits but don't ship water easily. They handle well and are especially good boats for beginners, large paddlers, or anyone just wanting a relaxing afternoon on the lake or bay.

Just got the perception access 11.5 and it’s really good! I also have Emotion Spitfire 9 kayak. With the perceptions longer size makes it a perfect kayak to take to the lake or to the bigger river. I use my spitfire 9 foot kayak to fish in the small rivers where you need maneuverability and not tracking.
Check my channel out!!!! I’ve got all the details
