So the eyes are a very useful ways to sometimes to determine truthfulness, and there’s a lot of things so the first thing, let’s talk about eye contact. There’s not one shred of academic research that shows breaking eye contact is an indication of lying. However, everybody believes that. Everybody believes that If you break eye contact you’re lying, there’s not one shred of research that shows that, okay. However, there is some research that shows that people tend to make an overbearing amount of contact when they lie, because they think that you, you think that if they break eye contact that you are going to perceive them as lying. So one of the things you’ll see people do is, I swear to God, I swear to God, I didn’t do that, and then they make an unusual amount of eye contact, which is a deviation from how they make could be an indication of lying. Also blink rates, it’s really a strong way of determining, it’s not a strong way, but it’s one of the ways you could maybe use to determine whether someone is lying. So there’s two responses with blink rate. Our blink rate tends to increase when we get really emotional about something, all right. So blink rate is coordinated with emotion all right, so you’ll see an increase in blink rate right there. But blink rate also decreases when we experience something called cognitive overload. And what cognitive overload is, it’s basically when our brain, lying requires more cognition then telling the truth. So lying requires more cognitive facilities than when you are telling something honest. So what tends to happen behaviors tend to stop when you are lying. So one of the cool things you’ll tend to see is, some research points to, when you see someone is telling a lie, you’ll see a decrease in cognitive overload, and when they get away with it, you’ll see an increase in blink rate, because they just got away with it. So it’s kind of cool, but it’s not highly accurate and it’s hard to look for, but it’s something you can be mindful of.

He missed one. It's not for everyone but when people lie and they smile look for around their eyes cause if it is't wrinkled up like an actual smile(or not as wrinkled up as much) then that could mean that they're lying. But it depends on the person. If they usually smile without wrinkling their eyes then it doesn't really help.

I break eye contact a lot...but I'm bashful and emotionally.  Whenever I've tried to maintain eye contact, I feel inauthentic.

Funny how @ 0:59 he is basically displaying what he is talking about at the exact moment. Toward the end the same as he stutters. I was waiting for a "got you" twist at the end

Tip: practice a few times before you film. I had to speed the video up to 1.75x to make an illusion of an informative lecture.

Great information. You did your research. Maybe look into speed of dialogue, direction the eyes look away, annotation of voice, emotion in voice as well. Lots of clinical research and discussion on these!

Good video. I'd wonder if a good liar would be easier to catch than an open book or ashamed types in a sense because it could come off as over acting or disruptive.

I don't know if it's just me but in your videos seem that you're kinda charming or trying to seduce me because of the way you deviate your eyes and move them back to the camera. You also have a pretty face, so maybe it's just me. HAHAHAH

Did somebody else felt the same? (but in my case it actually also annoys me and makes me stop watching these videos, so it has also a bad side I think lol)

A great way you can tell if the fruit is ripe is by its color. Ok not a great way but it may be. Be mindful of it. but maybe it can help you tell. Another way is by its texture. Sometimes when it's ripe it has a soft texture but most times it could be hard. It is most likely that it's possible that it's ripe 6 times out of 10. Thank you. This should get you ripe fruit at least some to most of the time. So please don't use it. Better to guess and say that you are guessing.

If it sounds like an excuse that a six year old might a lie. People usually look away while mentally flashing back through the event they're speaking of. Body language usually gives people away.
Key questioning from the beginning should expose awkward body language in a liar imo.

well technically having a static eye contact is also breaking eye contact, just in a different way than looking away
