Im a product specialist for Audi. The spoiler is there to reduce the drag coefficient front .28 to .27. It helps squeeze out an additional 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) of range. Also, the sportback has 15l more trunk space than the square back with the seats up. Don't know how they did that though.

I don't agree. I think the sportback looks better. But you have to see them in real life and not in a video that never really gives a good long view with normal lightening. It looks way more aggressive and sporty. I opted for the Sportback mostly because it could be delivered much quicker than the regular version here in Belgium. But I guess that that advantage will change over time.

I test drived the (coupé) sportback q4 and trust me, it looks way better in reality than in 2D picture/photoshop. It’s more massive and muscular. Ordered it full options

I hate the front end, but I really like the side view for the Squareback. It has a nice rear too.

They put a spoiler there for a reason, it’s needed for stability at autobahn speeds. The original Audi TT was this shape and didn’t have one, and it had issues. The opening is also needed to see out the back. I’m sure in a fictional world design would be based purely on looks but this is a real car for real life.

The problem with the Q4 Etron is it's name. The Q names should have stayed with their ICE vehicles. The EVs should have been given their own unique Etron name, never involving the Q or A names.
With the entrance of the Q8, I thought that the even number Q names will be the coupe versions. The Q8 is essentially a Q7 coupe (or Sportback). The Q3 and Q5 are getting Sportback versions, but they aren't following in the Q8 footsteps to be named Q4 and Q6 (which would have been much better!). Nope, they get Q3 Sportback and Q5 Sportback names. So, should the Q8 be renamed the Q7 Sportback?
Now, back to this vehicle. The name Q4 should denote a Sportback from the start. But no, this isn't. However, it does get it's own Sportback version, adding to the confusion. 🤦‍♂️
Ultimately, there is zero cohesiveness to their naming structure anymore.

I disagree about the spoiler. It needs to be there because it makes the silhouette less clunky. Otherwise the whole front of the car seems too fat. Remove it and it doesn't look like an Audi - it would look like a fat porsche. Its not a growth. Nothing is done for no reason.

Fully agree with everything you just said in the video. Sportback looks gash but the standard one looks way way better. That silly spoiler on the sportback is hideous!

The problem is that not one of these so called sportback, coupe back SUVs is that not one of them is desirable with the worst offenders being the pioneers, X6 and GLE coupe!
