World Champion Magnus Carlsen faced Dutch No.1 Anish Giri in the seventh round of the Tata Steel Masters in Wijk aan Zee 2017. After entering an equal endgame, Carlsen put his magic to work and slowly outplayed Giri. After picking up a pawn, Carlsen faced the last resistance as Giri gave up a rook to push his e-pawn forward. In the critical position, Carlsen went astray and his life much more difficult. Can you find what he missed? Enjoy watching :)

It's not a forced mate! Just a variation with if opponent defends inaccurately

The winning line after Carlsen missed Rc8+(and played Bf7+ instead) with Bd3+ is very instructive.

Sadly the only things you get credit for as the worldchampion are your mistakes :/ probably missed the mate in 3 because he is always tired

How about F5-F7 first, occupying the 7th rank; then the Black Queen cannot really crush the white king; and then C7-C8#

Thanks for showing this... Even Carlsen missed a mate in 3. I don't feel as stupid.

Good video, but please god don't start with these annoying titles. I don't think your target demographic are 14 year old girls.

I like your videos Nicklas, but this "comment of the day" is your most stupid idea ever. Luckily don't know a good English translation of the German word "Selbstbeweihräucherung", otherwise I would have used it here. ;-)
