Nile Rodgers & CHIC “We Are Family, Soup for One, & Like a Virgin' Studio Performance Sep. 28, 2018

Another video shot at the famed BBC Maida Vale Studios in London on the day of the release of the first CHIC album in 26 years. The only song which was scheduled to be played was "We Are Family." The second song, "Soup for One," was an impromptu start by Nile. "Like a Virgin" was completely unexpected, and you will see that Jerry Barnes, the bassist had taken off his guitar and left--only to return and finish with another great performance of this song.

As a guitarist Nile is one of my heroes. I try very hard to sound like him but boy, is it hard. It's his right hand and how he strums that makes him so unique and hard to copy. And the voicings and chords he chooses is really hard to pick up by ear. Heaven for me would be volumes of guitar sheet music for everything he ever recorded. There's no amount of money I wouldn't pay.

It would be hard to calculate just how many people this man has touched and made feel good through music. From Chic in the 80's to Daft Punk in the 2000's Nile has been there with The Hitmaker (his beloved 60's era Stratocaster) and that signature chucking groove.
