That bit about Let's Go Psyduck is a surprise - Eevee was the rival's starter in Pokémon Yellow, so picking it as counterpart to Pikachu seems to be a perfectly natural choice.

I like how in Let's Go, Game Freak gave Eevee a matching, heart-shaped gender difference to Pikachu. It's cute!

Eevee is literally a Pokemon you cant hate. It's absolutely adorable, and so are all of its eeveelutions. And speaking of them, you can literally fit it into your team anywhere you want.

Masuda stated in an interview is that they were planning on a flying type eeveelution but the fans kept making designs too close to what they were thinking of.

Fun little story about Eevee I always like to tell. So I was doing a Nuzlocke of Pokemon Sun and needed an answer for Totem Wishiwashi. I had decided to dedicate the gift Eevee from the ranch to this task and named him Forest because I was planning on it being a Leafeon. One large problem with this though is that I thought the mossy rock in the first Totem area was *the* Moss Rock needed for a Leafeon (mostly because it looks the exact same as the Ice Rock in this game) but nope, it's actually in the Lush Jungle where you fight Totem Lurantis....so no Leafeon. I still wanted an Eeveelution and the smart choice would probably be the bulky Umbreon but I'm not smart and instead went with Espeon, running around for an hour and a half to max out Friendship early. Forest (never changed their name) was a very valiant member of the team and did meet an untimely demise unfortunately.

When I played through Arceus, I decided to give Leafeon a go since it missed it's chance beforehand. I called it Forest 2 and he was also a cool team member. That was the turning point for me. Any Eevee I decide to use will now be named "Forest whatever number I'm on". I did change it to me needing to have the Eevee for a while to count because while Forest 1, 2, 6 and 7 are all my homies....Forest 3-5 died really early in my Ultra Moon Nuzlocke attempts.

I think it’d be cool if they add a bunch new eeveelutions for the types that it can’t evolve into and then making Eevee the starter for a future game
