What are the Chances?

Lightning strikes, shark attacks, snake bites - a lot of things can kill you...but if you get in a crash without a seat belt you only have a 50/50 chance of surviving. Don’t play the odds. Seat belt use is required by law for a reason: In 2015, seat belts saved an estimated 13,941 people from dying. From 2011 to 2015 seat belts saved nearly 64,000 lives. Click It or Ticket.

I don't think most of these are true. but for the love of God, just wear your seatbelt

the correct question is not "how often will you get killed if you crash [with no seatbelt] ?" it's "what are your chances of dying or being severely injured [with no seatbelt] just getting on the road?"

“48 percent of the people killed in motor vehicle crashes were not wearing seat belts” does NOT mean “you only have a 50% chance of surviving a car crash with no seat belt”. By that logic, you have a 50% chance of dying in a car crash if you wear a seat belt.

I'm all for seatbelt safety, but all the 'facts' in this video are all completely false. Not to mention they have NO sources to back up their claims, lmao.

Totally, because having gaping wounds caused by a shark attack in the middle of the ocean with absolutely no help for miles upon miles, you have a 98% of surviving it. Perhaps being bitten by a rubber snake will give you 99% chance to live. Being struck by lightning with a 90% chance of surviving is very likely, but the long term effects will just make life not worth living. We all get the point your trying to get across, but at least provide REAL facts with REAL reasoning behind them, otherwise some may think that these facts are true and wind them up into some serious situations. Your doing more harm then good.

None of these are true, you have a VERY high chance of being killed by a venomous or poisonous snake. A shark has a high chance of killing you, you have a kinda low chance for lighting, but you will have long term and short term effects. But NONE of these are 90% chance of living, without a seatbelt is like a 10-35% chance for newer models, but 40-55% for the older models. The reason is because that the newer models have some fancy features like auto-brake, and some apps. But the autobrake can go off at anytime, so if your not wearing your seatbelt, your slamming your head on the wheel, and that could cause a concussion which could lead to permanent brain damage or even death if it's too severe. The older model wins because it doesn't have auto-brake, and you do it yourself. It is safer to have auto-brake, but people should just watch the damn road.
