Lessons From The Depot - How to start a Class 43 (HST)

How to start the class 43 and set the DSD and AWS isolation switches:

Enter the cab and sit in the drivers seat

Insert and unlock the master key

Make sure the reverser is in the ENGINE OFF position (first notch)

make sure train brake is set to FULL SERVICE and the parking brake is set to the ON position. Also make sure the train throttle is at IDLE

Press and hold the white ENGINE START button for 5 seconds the let go

Set the DSD isolation to the dash position (-)

Set the AWS isolation to the dash position (-)

Move the reverser to the neutral position and reset the AWS

These are all the steps to start a class 43 locomotive
