The most iconic in Australia in the 70s were the Kawasaki in line fours. I remember Peter Stevens in Footscray with all the bikes out the front and a guy on a Z1300 up on one wheel down Barkly St. I once knew a guy who rode his Kwaka in Stone. Every in line Kwaka had its own story and still does. 🇦🇺👍

I have owned a 1978 Kawasaki Z1-R since new. I chose to modify the bike over the years to improve comfort, handling, braking, and performance. Don’t regret it one bit. The bike does everything better, but I still retained the stock bodywork. Love museum pieces, but if you are going to ride any old bike, I would recommend thoughtful mods to improve the ride. BTW, almost everyone heavily modified these bikes in the ‘70s, just like in the Mad Max movie. Also, I’m pretty sure that the exhaust system is a period correct Kerker, which I have on my Z1-R. I don't think the black header pipe or mini air filters are original, but the rest looks pretty much like it should be sitting new on a showroom floor. Saweet!

Nice bike....but it's not original. I remember those when they were new. In fact, I owned one, the Z1000A2. That one in the video looks like the A1, that preceded mine. And I immediately spotted at least 5 items that have been changed from original....still, it's what looks to be a very nice example. But definately NOT original.
