Best explanation I've seen in 2 years of research, thanks Doc.

What you are missing is what the bone spur motion limition does to the SI joints and the low back. I'm a living example of this. You need to look at the siting, standing, and dynamic motions in order to do this truely holistically.

I'm getting a lot of right buttock pain and join pain, could that be a hip impingement? I do have osteoarthritis and have just been diagnosed with non-benign cramp fasciculation syndrome.

I have this problem and am currently deciding on whether to have surgery...my hip specialist says that if the spur remains it will damage more cartilage and further damage the labrum after certain rotations (e.g. The kick you do when swimming breaststroke). What are your thoughts?

I had a bone spur and it only hurt when I moved hip into the position where it would hit. Like trying to sit Indian style to tie my shoe, so because of that my surgeon did a toatal hip replacement!! Since that I have a hip psoas pengment after having a total hip replacement
I've been told it's due to the wrong placement of the acetabular cup from my surgeon ot Ohio state University. The doctor the did the hip replacement for six months said there was nothing wrong with me!
I'm up set and believe all this pain is due to MALPRACTICE from not placing the implant in correctly.. do you feel the original surgeon is WRONG for what he did? The total hip replacement was on 11-21
I been in pain since
Had cortisone injection three weeks ago with relief of pain for three days. Have appointment with surgeon to release psoas on 9-22
Been a long horrible year so far😢

I thought FAI was mostly caused by genetics. Also I believe CAM’s are more prevalent. I don’t think sighting ONE study back in 2013 holds a lot of water. If you had a dozen or more studies that have been done more recently say in the last 2-5 years I might consider not doing my FAI surgery. I have both a CAM and Pincer and they caused my labrum tear. Sorry you didn’t convince me to go the non-operative way.

Hi Doctor, I have CAM type FAI, what would you say about the formation of the bone spur for this situation?

What if the bone spur development is on the "Ball" and not the Socket?

Hello Chris.

I have an imbalance on mi pelvis. The left hip is 1.2 cms higher than the right hip.
Recently I started to feel pain in the right hip, knee and inner thigh, and the exams say I have CAM hip impingement.
My question is. May a pelvis imbalance be the root cause of the hip inpingement?

This is false... I had this surgery just a few months ago, and the spur was growing on my leg bone, not the pelvic bone socket. It grew so large that when my leg was extended out to my side it made contact with the socket and fractured my pelvic bone socket while I was riding... and the stuff in between the joint (don't remember what it was called) was so damaged it was almost non-existent! And I'm bow legged. My knee doesn't bend inward while i walk, it actually goes more outward than most, so this guy obviously has no idea what he is talking about!
