Spicy VS. Sweet VS. Sour Wasn't The Best Splatfest

Splatoon 3's recent Splatfest had some good improvements in it like updates to Tricolor Turf War. But Nintendo still managed to drop the ball on Spicy Vs. Sweet Vs. Sour. But hey, at least Frye won and stopped Shiver and Big Man from winning again.

i dont think nintendo's being lazy with the whole splatsville decoration thing, i believe at the moment they are focusing on the splatoon 3 dlc, thats also why i think splatoon 2 only had splatoween and frosty fest in it's second year, octo expansion was being worked on in the first year of splat2

I was team sweet and I played often against my own team. In tri colour, I only got 3 matches with the other teams out of like 20 or so and the matchmaking was horrible, unfair and just does not function. And while the splatfest, I got way more disconnects than usual and usually, a disconnect isn't that rare because of Nintendo. I feel like not only splatfest needs to get better but the entire game does

Even though sour had lower percentage, team barbarian from one of the splatoon 1 Europe splatfests is probably the champion for the least popular team. They got 23% of the votes in a regional splatfest, in the least played region (Europe) on the Wii u (so probably like less than 1000 people picked it). But we STILL ended up winning via wins lol

As one of the 8 Team Sour players, despite knowing we would probably lose I had a lot of fun! Didn't have a single mirror match, but I agree it was a horrible horrible choice this time around. Tri Color was SO much fun this time around though! The way they did it this time made it SOOOO fun! I want to play it outside of splatfest!

I felt they picked team sour just to make sure Fyre had a head start to other teams considering she was 3 splatfests in (+ testfire) that she hasn't won or gain any points.

I played the splatfest with my friend and we were both team sour. My honest reaction to the results were how did sour get so little votes, and how did we still get close and even win pro?

I joined team sweet this splatfest and despite winning, I feel that overall I had less fun than I did playing for team grass. The mirror matches were a bit much to the point it was a miracle when I actually faced another team playing tricolour. I understand it's not entirely their fault though, hopefully next splatfest the votes will be more balanced and we can see what happens! edit: forgot something, I kept on being matched with S rank players despite not dabbling too much into ranked myself, I'm not sure why that was but it made for a frustrating experience? I definitely wouldn't call myself S rank so I ended up losing a lot of those matches 😅

to be completely honest, i really enjoyed this splatfest! i was on team spicy, and splat 3 is the first game where i got to actually experience splatfests, tho. even though the theme made it unbalanced, i still enjoyed it more than pokemon fest, probably because i was on a smaller team. i also didnt get so many matchmaking issues, but i can see why they would be a problem for team sweet. overall, a frostyfest would’ve been super cool, but i still enjoyed this fest!

The mirror matches were pretty annoying, but I tried ignoring the fact that I'm fighting my own team as much as I could. So had had very much fun with this splatfest, especially because I finally got to play tricolor more than only a few games. In the other splatfests it was so rare to even get into tricolor, and I was just happy to really be able to play the mode, at that point it didn't really matter for me what team the people on the opponents side chose, I mean, I'm still fighting them like I would fight the other teams. But at the end of the day we all are here to give our best and especially to have fun.

During my entire time of playing Splatfest, which was about 6hrs, I've only encountered Team Sour once, to the point I got on the Reddit to ask if anyone even picked the team. If not for that one instance, and seeing people with the Sour Tees on, I would've forgotten that Sour was a part of the fest.

I was on team sour. I played for 4 hours and only versed Spicy 1 time. Everything else was sweet (splatfest day 1). I was literally more hyped to verse spicy then the reveal of the splatfest itself

I don't think they did salty because they already kind of did Sweet vs salty popcorn in splatoon 2. I agree with most of your points tbh and as somebody who was one team sweet there was a lot of mirror matches and we're sorry.

This was probably the most fun I’ve had in Splatfest yet, but I was on Spicy so I avoided mirror matches outside of Tricolor

I just hope we go back to Fests every month tbh. We had Big Run in December but nothing in October

I was on team spicy and I never got into a single normal turf war against team sour. The only times I saw team sour were in the tricolor turf wars I experienced that were not mirror matches.
Edit: I think that it would be cool if there was a splatfest that featured the three most basic instant noodle flavors: beef, chicken, and shrimp.

I was on team Spicy, and I can't speak for the overall team's experience but I know for a FACT that the majority of my Tri-Colors were mirrors. It wasn't caused by Team Sweet being so high, but because of the insane imbalance between Sweet and Sour. There just weren't enough Sour players queued to make Tri-Color matches with all three teams, so we all got shunted into mirrors.

something that it seems no one is considering is if we got a frosty fest now, what would that mean for next year? just frosty fest again? i am fairly confident that a lot of people would call nintendo lazy for reusing a splatsville holiday theme a second time
