I remember telling a friend (an Apple fan) that Samsung manufactured the iPhone chips and they refused to believe me.

They also make the memory chips for iPhones and the OLED displays, which can either be from Samsung or LG. 😅

Pretty sure that samsung still manufactures their displays to this day, its two seperate branches if the same company.

It's still a miracle Apple was able to pull off the first generation iPhone in 2007 with 2000s technology. That wasn't easy. A lot of new technologies Apple put into the iPhone were so new and expensive. The software alone was a nightmare to deal with according to software engineers who worked in the development of iPhone OS. Also, it's a miracle that Apple's iPhone team didn't chase the competition by replicating what the established phone makers were doing at the time. Apple's team chased a dream. Capacitive touch-screen? No stylus. No keyboard. Countless hours were put into the development of the touch-screen software to work perfectly with the touch-screen hardware.

it’s so interesting that we can say Apple isn’t good at making some of their own internals and that can be sort of perceived as a negative because they are outsourcing but on the other hand… It is common every other company does the same and that is the standard for the majority of the tech products we use every day.
