Can't believe how easy it is to remove a Mercury boat engine and outdrive! (time lapse)

Time Lapse of removing a Mercury 140 hp 3.0L four cylinder inboard engine and outdrive from a 1984 Sea Ray Seville. Much easier to remove than a Volvo Penta 275 on a Bayliner.

I like that you throw the wood under and stay clear till you lower the engine. Safe move.

DIY Car Guy next time take the sterndrive off first.
Shift it into forward; remove the aft tilt pin that connects the trim rams to the drive (2 nuts and pin slides or taps out); and the six easy to get at nuts that secure the drive. 5 minutes and the drive is off out of the back of the engine and clear of the transom assembly. It will make life easier.

I've been doing this kind of thing for decades. It's turned into a hobby.

That is a tall engine hoist. Did you rent it? I don’t think my harbor freight hoist can lift up over the back part of my boat.

It’s pretty easy removing any boat engine. I work on a 1500hp tug and pulled out all 3 and put 3 new ones in just a week

A VERY well made video; thanks, it helped me out, to see what the rear motor mounts look like; because not all boats have the accessibility yours had, some are a b1tch to get at, and some have their nuts seized to that long bolt. wait...what!?

I don't have the confidence to take an engine out of a vacuum yet alone a boat. Well done!

You're video is titled outboard buddy, that is an inboard engine. Just a heads up that you may want to adjust the title to reflect the work.

Of course it's easy your destroying the boat.

Easy when you take the boat apart. If you were doing an engine swap on a boat that will be put back together, you couldn't have done this more wrong. Stern drive comes off first and never pull the alignment stands.

The way you are showing others is not the way at all to do this .. First you put the boat in forward gear. Then you remove the drive from the transom assy .. Then you unbolt the engine and remove it. Then you remove the transom assy.. I would fire a tech fast if i ever saw one pull a marine engine like this, , Not trolling and im sure you are a nice guy .
