'A hair quicker' as you said... I have the A 54 256 GB / 8GB RAM and it flies. and right now is £500 cheaper than the S 23 in the UK. That's a lot of money for 'a bit faster'. I've also stuck a 256GB Micro SD in for photos / videos, a huge plus for the A54. No complaints here!!

It's a mystery to me why mid range phones almost always have larger screens than the flagships. Just annoying to use with my smaller hand

My A51 also needs some time after starting to run smooth but my A73 with Snapdragon chip doesn't have that problem. Overall performance is still much faster and smoother on my A73.

For such a tiny difference for a normal user there is definitely no reason to pay double for s23 or any othet similar

I put an app called cpu x on my A53 and you can see after start up that all 8 cores are maxed out for a couple of minutes and then settles down and gets really smooth.

it all comes down to what you will pay fore a phone. btw how fast do you want a phone to be? you can change the animation speed with Developer options > Drawing. Under this heading, you'll see three “Animation scale” options: “Window animation scale, ” “Transition animation scale, ” and “Animator duration scale.” Tap each of these options, and change the setting from 1x to 0.5

yes but in some countrys, as mine, the difference in price is very big. In my country the a 54 is 400$ and s23 800$. Thiw is why you canot compare them

The difference you mention in the smoothness mostly comes down to software, in this case.

It's funny seeing different ppl's user behaviour. I have a flagship phone but always close apps in my task manager after I use them. Always have....it's just habit. Which means my apps always fully reload each time I need them. Maybe with my behaviour I should just get a mid range device 🤦

Samsungs with exynos chips like to lag quite a bit after a boot up. my s22 ultra did that aswell

This just shows you why you need at least 8GB of RAM, but in a year or two you'll be needing 10GB+. Look at the difference, it's shocking.

LAAAAGG54, Loading... S23/S23+ PWM is unaceptable for the "number 1" manufacturer of screens in the world.

It’s when the phones get to two years old the problem. The s23 in 2016 will be still an amazing option for 400€ and the other one will be a snail. I’m still rocking an iPhone 11 in 2023 for this reason
