I had the 1977 version of this car that I believe was the same as this '78. And I loved it. I recall two versions were offered at the time. One was the GT and that came with a 5-spd trans. The other is this car called the tourer, and they came with a 4-spd trans, and the luggage rack on the trunk lid. There were probably some other differences that I'm not aware of. I believe the tourer had more zip because of the 4-spd, and mine moved along beautifully. Bear in mind that these are Sports Cars, not muscle cars. So, the emphasis is on handling, not power. But without doubt my favorite thing was the sound of the original exhaust. The English really know how to dial-in sound and that was magnificent. They are a lot of fun to drive and have great handling of course. I remember loving the three windshield wipers too. MG put a really powerful heater in these, so no matter how floppy the convertible top seemed to be there was no such thing as being cold.
You can get any parts for these cars that you want from Moss Motors, and they love sending out paper catalogs if you sign-up.

I owned an MG the last year they built them. It blew a rod driving on a highway because the guy who built the motor didn't tighten it down correctly. Big disappointment to say the least.

That Crack in the side window is from putting the top down incorrectly!!

I have repaired a lot of these great cars in 4 cyl 6 cyl and v 8, and they Are just so great the 6 cyl in line 3000 cc is awsome, so gourgeus cars always thanks
