Watch out for this when fasting for MCAS

Dr. A dives into MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) and the 3 stages of treatment - acute management (epipen, anaphylaxis), conventional management (steroids, histamine blockers), and long-term management (integrative therapies, diet etc).

Caution when fasting for MCAS:

You're going to get worse in 99 percent of cases the first two days.

There's very good research that shows in the beginning of a fast,

You're going to dump more histamine and inflammatory mediators.

This is why you may not want to do this first thing.

You might want to work with your practitioner

And get some inflammatory mediators handled.

And generally what we hear from people

Is between the first day and a half to the second day, which matches the science,

Histamines go up, you aggravate, you feel worse,

You have to stay well hydrated, maybe take extra of the supportive stuff you take.

And then along about day two to three, it starts to get better and better.

And by day five to seven, you're off and reset.

fasting works to put MCAS in remission. It is long and hard but worth it.

This makes so much sense. Thank you for this helpful video that gives me so much encouragement because I thought I couldn't fast beyond ~20 hours with histamine intolerance based on my symptoms in the first day. I love fasting. This tells me that I just have to hydrate and push through until day 3. Thank you so much!

For me, I start to get worse around day 3 and I usually end up with a cold sore. 🙄 The lip and tongue swelling gets to be so uncomfortable I want to quit, but after my fast is complete it calms down to a level much lower than before. I live in a home that had mold and I don't think I'll ever get better unless I move. I have no choice but to fast because the swelling and body pain gets so bad I can't stand it. Carnivore helps, but it's not enough, unfortunately.

I’m on day 4 of my fast and also on xolair. My body is releasing so much histamine. Hopefully it will stop by day 7
