In the Avatar comics Aang and Katara return to Ba Sing Se for a meeting with the Earth King and plan to rest at Uncle Iroh’s tea shop before they are interrupted by a couple of girls carrying pictures of Aang who claim they are part of the official Avatar Aang Fan Club
Aang is flattered and Katara is less enthusiastic since when he introduces Katara as his girlfriend, one of the girls greets her as Aang’s first girlfriend, clearly implying that she's trying to steal Aang away
So Katara quickly tries to leave with Aang before the girls offer for them to stay at their clubhouse which they mention they had modeled after the western air temple
Curiosity lures Aang only to be shown a run down shack that looks nothing like an air temple but Aang is polite and appreciates their effort
In the clubhouse we see Aang surrounded by fellow young ladies of the fan club as he impresses them with various air bending techniques such as the air scooter and air marbles which the ladies find very impressive
One of the girls had also found an airbender flute that Aang happily plays for the entire group
Katara’s clearly had enough at this point and when they are leaving she asks Aang if he enjoyed the attention from the girls but when Aang responds that he was grateful for them since he felt like he was back home for a bit there
Katara regrets feeling jealous as they go to meet with the Earth King

The world is divided into four nations -- the Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation and the Air Nomads -- each represented by a natural element for which the nation is named. Benders have the ability to control and manipulate the element from their nation. Only the Avatar is the master of all four elements. The ruthless Fire Nation wants to conquer the world but the only bender who has enough power, the Avatar, has disappeared ... until now. His tribe soon discovers that Aang is the long-lost Avatar. Now Katara and Sokka must safeguard Aang on his journey to master all four elements and save the world from the Fire Nation.

If I remember correctly that fan club later becomes known as the Air Acolyte’s who then evolve into a sort of neo air nomad’s at the time of Korra.

From what I understand, this sort of fan club is ultimately a precursor to the groups who preserve Air Nomad culture in Avatar Korra's era. This is how Aang's son Tenzin meets Pema, another fan.

Aang is still too innocent to know when bad girls are trying to steal him, but loyal enough not to be swayed and show gratitude to his fans.

Those two started an intimate relationship as PRETEENS, more or less. They got to experience their entire teen years navigating Love and other less savory emotions while enduring being Hormonal and irrational. There is a lot of plot potential for these years.
