Polish culture is famous for its hospitality. For centuries, Poland has provided shelter to many persecuted religious groups and nations (Jews, Tatars, Ukrainians). Illegal immigration has nothing to do with accepting guests. It is rather about anonymous, random (or not) visitors who want to break into your country. If they violate the law from the beginning, what is the certainty that they will not do it later? It is a duty (especially a moral one) to provide shelter for refugees. That is why we help millions of Ukrainians. However, refugees or ordinary migrants also have duties that they must remember. The most important of them is respecting the law, and the next - assimilation and taking care of one's own financial support over time (if age and health allow it).

In Poland there is a rule "our house, our rules" and if you stick to it, you are welcome.

"A black and red-skinned man can become a true Pole if he adopts the spiritual heritage of the Polish nation, contained in its literature, art, politics, customs, and if he has an unwavering will to contribute to the development of the national existence of the Poles." - Wincenty Lutosławki, philosopher, philologist, social activist and co-creator of the national idea, a great Polish patriot

The Poles notice how badly it went in Western Europe with illegal immigration. We actually feel safer in Poland than in Western European countries. We are used to having a homogeneous society so we tend to be very cautious about losing it. My family and I lived in Germany in 2017-2019 when this big influx of immigrants came. I remember thinking - who am I to judge those people - I’m a newcomer as well, for economic reasons just like them. But it’s true that coming from a neighboring country made it much easier for us to integrate - the values were similar, the religious background the same, even our behavior was similar to the German one.

Rasizm w Polsce to margines!jeżeli ktoś szanuje naszą kulturę i nas, takich jacy jesteśmy, to co najwyżej będzie budził zaciekawienie ze względu na fizyczną odmienność, ale na pewno nie wrogość

My Asian friend draws too far-reaching conclusions (9 minutes) that we perceive Muslim immigrants as a threat. No fuck no. We have had a Muslim minority for 600 years, Tatars, who have never been molested by anyone for their faith, cultivate it to this day, are Polish patriots. We won many battles only thanks to their great support, when we fought side by side for the good of our own families. Same with Jews and Orthodoc Christians, we invented peaceful diversity in our little imperium.

why do they want to go to Europe? I feel like the answer is quite simple. they want to eat their cake and have it too, not understanding that one contradicts the other. they emigrate to Europe because they see that it is better there, but once they are here they want it to be "just like home", not understanding that if they succeed, it will no longer be better.😅

I’m so surprised or, above all, impressed but running Beyond Borders you’ve learnt about Polish history much more than plenty of Polish teens have. I’m not quite sure if an average Polish teen would tell the exact period of time we were out of the map, srsly. Huge respect for genuinely respectful folks you are and I love ♥️ your good manners and such a polite language; or your attitude to make a punch line. It amazes me, especially, these days. You’re not politically correct in a bad way or negatively understood meaning of this but curious and diving deeper into different (not only Polish) issues still sharing your own thoughts, opinions and experiences but in such a kind way. You do it so naturally and straight away, yet, without offending anyone. Congratulations to your parents and to you, ofc 😀♥️👍🏼👏👏👏✌🏼

Hi guys, I am a Pole who has been living outside Poland for over 30 years now...
about refugees in general...
as I see it... I would like to tell you a parable:
If my house has just been flooded and my neighbour offers me shelter until I can return home, I will not start rebuilding his house to my liking.
So the refugees are welcome in Poland ...if they do not try to remodel the local customs until they can return home ... otherwise they are not welcome in Poland. I think that's understandable everywhere.

If you understand Polish books▪︎ "Pan Tadeusz" and ▪︎"Potop" well enough, and understand why during the Battle of Grunwald 1410 the Polish knights sang "Bogurodzica", then you are ready to be accepted as a Pole - no matter where you are from.
