I love Serj but I would have loved to see what SOAD could've done without him. There are so many amazing and talented singers out there, that something could've worked. And like John said, maybe if they had a new singer for an album or 2, Serj may have wanted to come back after some time. It's a tragic situation nonetheless.

People get older and want to take it easy, I get it. I'm sad I'll never get to see them live but I'm grateful to have discovered this music. They have an amazing song catalog, and if they never make new music I'll make peace with that. No SOAD without Serj! Call it something else.

Serj is integral to the band, as his unique vocals are what draw many to their indelible sound. They can certainly continue creating music with another singer, but it wouldn't be the same without Serj. I would love for them to actually just be a recording band, get it done in the studio and put the music out there. They will always have fans that support them, and as Dolmayan said in the interview, the album would be fantastic.

Dolmayan sounds like the heart and soul of SOAD right now. I love SOAD's first album and a big part of that is listening to him navigate effortlessly through the complicated compositions and arrangements. There was a purity there and they maintained that through Mezmerize and Hypnotize. Their latest singles haven't been as good as far as I can tell, much like the returns of A Perfect Circle.

John keeping it real. I just really hope I’m able to see them live at least once. I wouldn’t blame them if they moved on without Serj honestly. Waiting almost 20 years for one person sounds like torture.

We all need to accept that SOAD will never get their s*** together and that we will never see them perform live ever again. I know that sounds depressing. For those like myself who never got to a chance to see this magnificent band live, I’ll just have to live with that very painful fact. From the way things look it’s over. Very, very sad.

I feel like when John said some peoples side projects are bad he’s 100% talking about Serjs weird side projects.

System of a Down would not be who they are without Serj, however I think they could keep going on with the remaining original members. Daran could sing for them if need be.

John saying they have had the songs ready for 5-6 years and just need to record them to release them honestly hurts...

I don’t think they should call it quits like others are saying. Everyone in the band except for Serj is passionate and wants to tour and itching to make new music.

John beeing straight forward once again.... I think everyone had a feeling this is what has been going on for a long time. System of a Down have become the reverse Kate Bush. Insted of not touring and only recording albums, they have almost spent 20 years playing occasional live shows and not recording any new albums. What a weird Career... I can see how John feels like his time has been wasted.

20 years too late. Silence through three administrations, global climate and economic disaster. Champagne wishes, and caviar dreams. Moving on.

System will always be these four guys - even with Serj's lack of interest these days, no one could ever replace him and the music he has created with the band

not SOAD without Serj. regardless, I've made peace with the fact we're probably never going to get another SOAD album. they made so many truly fantastic albums I'm grateful for and content with what we did get. magical band with a genuinely original sound. I'm only sad that they don't wanna tour anymore, probably wont ever get to see them live again.

The way I look at it is as long as the band members are happy in life not in the benefactor of they'll never make music again as System of a Down but are happy in their life choices ultimately because they are still alive and well.

Would be interesting what they could do but it would not be System anymore. Could add something really raw and personal to it. Would love to see Serj at some point with them. Only saw them play one time live at DTE in Michigan with the wife. That night was magical! They only played 2 states that year. California was the other one they did.
