This method has a lower probability of a hit (or splash) since you're relying on the missile's inertial guidance (IOG) to guide it toward the general direction of the target before its radar goes active (known as Pitbull, when it begins tracking independently). However, this approach is ideal for someone still learning how to use Fox-3 missiles.

For a higher chance of a hit, it's better to maintain a soft lock on targets using Track While Scan (TWS) until the missile goes Pitbull. While this method increases the probability of success, it also requires you to be prepared to notch and dodge incoming enemy Fox-3 missiles, making it more challenging.

Thank you all for the positive comments on this video! I'm really glad that it helped you better understand how to use FOX 3 missiles in War Thunder. Wow, I just love how you explain everything. Even including the circles and the radar, I really appreciate you for taking your time and showing us how to use aim54a missiles

brother i seriously cannot explain how well you showed everything and i had seen many tutorials where they showed every single thing about aim 54 and fakour-90 but they missed one point and that is solid lock then fire. in previous 20 games i shoot over 50 missiles and none on them hit anyone but now i know why.

Thanks man, I just unlocked the AIM-54s, I'm new to top tier and just got the hang of the AIM-7F's (F-14) and here I am! Thanks for the tutorial, I still get a bit confused with all the radar modes but that all comes with familiarity and practice, have a fun day! :D Subbed!

Amazing guide man, wanted to try using my new IRIAF F-14A and been looking for other guides to help me with radar. Yours ended up being the one to help me the most, especially visualising each key bind for each action described on screen. Thanks and great job.

Many didn't notice, but gaijin added in-game tutorials for guided weapons. In fox3 tutorial the difference is in locking targets with moving the brackets in radar HUD and it actually was useful for me, since for some reason target switching doesn't work

When I test the weapons it was saying we need to stay locked until the missile is 10-15 km away from the target, now I know gaijin tricked me!!

How do I switch between targets using TWS with AIM54? And what is the maximum range for AIM54 or Fakour missiles?

A slight cheat is don’t take off until the fur ball in the middle of the map starts. People are to busy dog fighting to notice the ping of TWS and when the missile does lock a lot of time they are out of energy and chaff to counter it. That being said you are 10x more likely to team kill because the missile goes pit bull and it just goes for the brighter radar return from then on.

Is there a big difference in terms of precission when you break immediately after you fire the rocket? Is it worth to maintain lock until they will switch to their radar or should i maitain it for a couple of seconds after launch and then turn?

I'll recommend climb till 3k with 10 degrees climb rate so you gain speed & minimum speed to launch fakour 90 for my preference is 1.3+ mach cause the missile is heavier than normal Phoenixes so please try to maintain lock till you feel they close to enemies like 20kms and then you can break the lock dive down and do your shenanigans to evade incoming enemy missile & also ill recommend to carry 2 R27 cause its much better than the normal AIM7 sparrows.
Enjoy ! GG !...
