Here, we introduce exponential functions for A Level Maths Year 1!
Exponential functions are of the form y=a^x for which we take a look at the graphs of, as well as some values!
We also take a look at THE exponential function, y= e^x !
e (Euler's constant) is a very special number in mathematics and the exponential function has the very special property that the gradient of the curve is equal to the value of the function at that point!
We finish with some example questions on finding the gradient of exponential graphs at given points!
We'll see these a lot in this chapter, particularly for modelling exponential growth and decay.
For the EXPONENTIALS AND LOGARITHMS chapter of the NEW A LEVEL MATHS Year 1 for AQA, Edexcel, OCR and OCR MEI!
