Everybody seems to be talking shit on openAI these days. They are still my favorite AI company, and I think they will maintain their lead past AGI.

Behind the scenes, OpenAI probably has some pretty advanced models. They release something whenever something else is released, meaning that they are far ahead of the competition. I don't buy the lie that they don't have anything much more advanced than what I can access. It's an obvious lie designed to calm their competition and to get any doomsayers off their backs.

I remember sometime last year, I think around this time, there was some reporting that they were burning through all their cash, and they were going to run out.

Revenue 3 billion loses 10 billion 😅. The masses will never pay for it.

The main reason why everyone talks shit about OpenAI is because they are on top and leading the AI race. That being said, they need to release GPT-5 soon as other companies are starting to catch up.

I believe Apple should be able to use many kinds of AI models in their app. Users can choose whether they want privacy (like Gemini's sibling) to run locally, if they want Smart Opus to handle it, if they want to explore with Gemini, or if they want character features they can choose OpenAI. All of this can be available through in-app purchases without requiring separate multiple subscriptions to those companies; Apple will manage that for you.

And to sell this to users, they can emphasize "PRIVACY ABOVE ALL" (which I don't believe is able to happen, but well, people would love being nurtured as if their privacy is being protected.
