I review the all-new 2023 Toyota Prius Prime in its mid-grade XSE trim alongside @revmatchtv! We go over all the main features and perks of the 2023 Prius Prime and how it differs from the regular 2023 Prius. Lastly, we discuss fuel economy, efficiency and pricing. Overall, it's very impressive in a variety of ways and should please both existing Prius Prime owners as well as enthusiasts and those that want an electric driving experience without giving up the flexibility of a gas-powered vehicle. What do you think about the 2023 Prius Prime? Thanks to Toyota for the opportunity!

Toyota is really killing it with the styling on the Prius this time around.

Who would’ve thought that we’d be comparing a Civic Si to a Prius! Awesome review Matt

Weird age we live in where a Prius is more powerful and more sporty than a Honda Accord

18:10 - It is not a CVT. eCVT is totally different planet. It has no conventional gearbox or gears.

This plus an enthusiast car(Miata, S2k type car) would be perfect to own

TBH, I often drive more than the EV range of Prius, BUT considering every situation and even longer trips, I expect 90% of my driving will be EV and the rest 10% hybrid mode.
This is just a perfect vehicle for someone who does not want an SUV and don't ever want to deal with things like range or buying fuel more than once per month.

Matt, help me understand that when the total mileage (44 MPG) is completed that the auto reverts back to the gas engine on its' own?

i have the corolla cross with 2.0 engine. i use extreme driving style to get 5.0L/100km, which is 49 MPG. i never go over 100km/h, seldom let the engine go over 2500rpm when accelerating and hyper mill when ever possible. so l smile when i see the gas pump, and its a different kind of fun to squeeze for MPG.

As of now, if one wants to stick with the factory tire size 195/50-19, tire choices are very limited or non-existent. I can't find any all-weather or dedicated winter tires in this size at all. This and the FWD only setup might be a deal breaker for me. It would be interesting to see some braking/handling numbers in comparison with the AWD Prius. Where I live the combination of hills, ample rain, and the occasional snow means the AWD is plausibly a better choice in terms of overall driving performance. From a practical standpoint, there are PHEV AWD CUV or SUV options if one is willing to give up a bit of fuel efficiency over the Prius. I suspect most people would prefer those CUV/SUVs over the Prius Prime. On the other hand, I do agree that the Prime or even the AWD version might entice the traditional hot hatch / performance FWD buyers to give the new gen Prius a serious look.
