Alan Wilson Watts (6 January 1915 – 16 November 1973) was a British-American philosopher who interpreted and popularized Eastern philosophy for a Western audience. Watts proposed that Buddhism could be thought of as a form of psychotherapy and not a religion. His thought provoking lectures aim to answer life's greatest mysteries and are more relevant today than ever before.

Isn’t it amazing that we watch these videos, feel enlightened for a day and then we all fall back into capitalism and all we want is financial security and job satisfaction and a family

After more than 2/3rds of my life drowning in drugs and alcohol, asking myself WHO I am, this video(lesson) speaks to me on a spiritual level. At 37 years of age, I often ask myself, who am I? What is it I desire? I always answer, " I don't know "... to both questions. This presentation made me

It's sad Alan passed away so early, everytime I listen to him speak I feel like a good old friend is talking to me. You feel his geniunity in his words and he's incredible at describing rather complex Buddhist or Hinduist concepts in easy to understand terms.

Mr Watts is a great thinker.
The person recording him is good at breathing into the microphone.

There's a book called Hidden Time Wealth, and it talks about how using some secret techniques, you can overcome procrastination and accomplish anything in life. It's not just a bunch of empty promises; it's the real deal.

Honestly, quarantine is working wonders for figuring out what I want. It’s so long and drawn out that I have gotten bored with video games. I’ve gotten bored with YouTube a lot. I’ll watch or play it for an hour-2 in a day, then get bored and find something more interesting to do. Use this time to learn how work is fun, as long as it’s something you want to do.

This has really rattled me . I’m quite the hedonist. And I’m always miserable. The concept of chasing pain after being bored with pleasure has sent shivers down my spine .

I got redirected to this video by a friend of mine and I honestly feel validated after watching this. since i was old enough to know even a little bit about this world, about ~8 years old, i have struggled to imagine my own place in it. I didn't know the answer to the question "what do you want to be when you grow up?", I didn't know what i wanted to achieve and even now, 10 years later, as i am going through the motions of live and going to college I still don't know.

I enjoy spending time with my friends, i enjoy the sports I play, but there is no future that I wish for that seems sustainable or even accepted in this society.
I don't know why I wrote this comment, I highly doubt anyone will even see it or take the time to read it. I suppose I just wanted this off my chest.
