After visiting 189 countries, this is one of the most beautiful places we've seen! So take this as your sign to send this video to the person you want to visit Bora Bora together with.
If you haven't been to Bora Bora it really is worth the hype. And it's not just because of Bora Bora but the entire area of French Polynesia. (Quick explanation: French Polynesia is like saying "Hawaii". It is a whole group of beautiful islands. 3 islands people often visit are: 1) Tahiti - the capital island where 70% of the population lives. 2) Mo'orea - a short boat ride away from Tahiti. 3) Bora Bora - world famous for it's beautiful, remote, and very expensive overwater bungalows.)
There are 121 islands in total in case you are planning a trip! But hopefully this is a start to understand this beautiful area.
Fun little side story when Em and I visited. It was Emmy's dream to stay in an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora. And there are more budget options but I told her if this was her dream to go for it and pick her favorite. haha the only problem is I had nooo idea how much these rooms can cost! The one we stayed in can go for over $1,000 per night (not including food =). And if you've been following our journey you know our average budget for a room is somewhere between $30-$45 a night. 😂
Meaning 1 night in this overwater bungalow could cost as much as a month's worth of our usual housing! But Emmy found a way! She saved up a ton of our hotel points and booked 1 night in the bungalow. We went to the resort as early as possible and stayed as late as they would let us to squeeze 2 days out of 1. (We also might be the only guests to eat ramen and canned chicken in our overwater bungalow because the food there was also a little over our usual budget. 😜) It was one of our favorite experiences in our entire 7 years of traveling.
And then we spent the rest of our time in French Polynesia back in cheap airbnbs and still had an incredible time!
