I use WordPress quite often. For the web sites with only a few content types and blogs it's great and intuitive. For the websites with more advanced data structure, I use Drupal, which has better support of fieldable data.

Speaking of Drupal, the underlining framework has become the obstacle more often than not when writing custom features for a specific business application. Having invested more than a year of development time, recently, I decided to abandon Drupal 8 and started with custom development from scratch. Sure, it's slow going but I feel I'm learning more advanced coding skills instead of figuring out how the framework could meet my needs.

You can only go so far with WordPress. Plugins can go pretty far, but if you have certain kinds of work to do, you'll need to go somewhere else - such as Drupal or - custom code.
