If the Ztar was added in MP8, your character would do their usual victory animation but then when the Star is revealed to be a fake, your character would either suddenly stop in the middle of their victory dance, or fail the victory dance and trip and fall.

WHOA! I don't remember heating THIS in the game...

Honestly this could've worked on stages where you can actually lose stars legitimately. (I.E. boards that have mechanics that are really underwhelming.) King Boo's Haunted Hideaway could've used them to make you lose coins or stars if you wandered into a trap, some of the hotels in Koopa's Tycoon Town could've had decoys that helped others tricking you into give one of your hotels to them, & Bowser's Warped Orbit could've been full of Ztars forcing everyone to plan ahead of time.

Sounds dark. Almost like a certain star you should avoid.

You Got a Ztar!!! This music appears on the board Koopa's Tycoon Town when you land on a Bowser Space and Bowser downgrades the Hotel.

they should've played this when your hotel gets bought by another person and you lose your stars in koopas tycoon town

This audio was left unused due to the ztar (dark star) not being used in the game

Similar to how Bowser's ztars take away a star from a player if they have any stars (including the Bowser Space in MARIO PARTY 5 --that is, if the player lands on the "Bowser Bonus" rule in the Bowser Space), I am pretty sure it could have been used in three of the boards here in MARIO PARTY 8. (NOTE: In MARIO PARTY 5, ztars were referred to as "Shadow Stars". In both MARIO PARTY 7 and 8, ztars would be referred to as "Dark Stars" --though in PAL version of MARIO PARTY 7, they were called "Z Stars". In MARIO PARTY 8, they should have been referred to as "Dark Stars" in both NTSC and PAL versions. That is, reusing the MARIO PARTY 7 name in MARIO PARTY 8 --that being "Dark Star".) It would have been useful in King Boo's Haunted Hideaway, Shy Guy's Perplex Express, and Bowser's Warped Orbit. (Bowser in fact steals a star in those 3 boards.)

This is how the Bowser Space should have worked in King Boo's Haunted Hideaway, Shy Guy's Perplex Express, and Bowser's Warped Orbit if this jingle (to get a Dark Star) was going to appear:

1. IN KING BOO'S HAUNTED HIDEAWAY: Bowser caps the pitfalls (if the player lands on a Bowser Space) with Bowser platforms. In Party Tent, he gives the player a Dark Star. Then the "YOU GOT A DARK STAR!" jingle plays, and the player loses one star. If the player has zero stars, he gives the player 10 coins. (NOTE: In Star Battle Arena version, he steals all of the player's coins or gives the player 10 coins if they have zero coins.)

2. IN SHY GUY'S PERPLEX EXPRESS: The normal steam engine is replaced with the Bowser's Bad Breath Express. In Party Tent, he gives the player a Dark Star. Then the "YOU GOT A DARK STAR!" jingle plays, and the player loses one star. If the player has zero stars, he gives the player 10 coins. (NOTE: In Star Battle Arena version, he steals half of the player's coins or gives the player 10 coins if they have zero coins.)

3. IN BOWSER's WARPED ORBIT: If the player lands on a Bowser Space, Bowser gives the player a Dark Star, the "YOU GOT A DARK STAR!" jingle plays, and the player loses one star. If the player has zero stars, he gives the player 10 coins. (NOTE: This in fact does happen in the Star Battle Arena version too. The player or the opponent wins by using candy to reduce the other's stars to zero stars. If the player or the opponent wins, they can get six stars. That is, since both the player and the opponent start with three stars. But if the player lands on a DK Space, Donkey Kong gives the player a free piece of candy. And if they land on a Bowser Space, Bowser gives the player a ztar which takes away one star. And the star is gone for the rest of the stage. Then this results with less stars in play --five stars instead of six.)

This is what should have happened if Dark Stars appeared in MARIO PARTY 8 like I imagined. In those 3 boards, when Bowser gives the player a Dark Star and steals one of their stars, this "short piece" song would have played.

Additionally, I also imagined there being orange candies (being orange flavor). The candy in the game is supposed to resemble hard candies. And they can be found on Candy Area spaces OR bought at confectionery shops (candy shops). Orange candies would be "board specific" candies. (NOTE: Red ones affect the Dice Block, green makes impact before movement, yellow makes impact during movement, and blue makes massive impact during movement. Red would be strawberry, green would be lemon-lime, yellow would be lemon, blue would be blueberry, and orange would be orange.)

This is how orange candies would work:

ORANGE CANDIES

(Orange candies are board specific candies.)

1. STAR CANDY: Has a picture of a golden pipe on the wrapper. (NOTE: This is similar to the Magic Lamp and Wiggler Capsule/Flutter Orb from MARIO PARTY 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. And with the yellow Warp Pipe on the wrapper, it would be succeeded by the Star Pipe/Golden Pipe in MARIO PARTY DS, SUPER MARIO PARTY, and MARIO PARTY SUPERSTARS.) If the player uses it, the yellow Warp Pipe takes them to the Star Space. And they must trade 20 coins for a star. (NOTE: This candy is exclusive to DK's Treetop Temple.) This candy is worth 25 coins (if bought at a candy shop). But it costs 15 or 20 coins at discounted prices (and if the player is in last place). And if Spear Guy (via the Green Space at DK's Treetop Temple) decides to buy the player's Star Candy, he gives them 25 coins (15 or 20 if it was 15 or 20).

2. CANNON CANDY: Has a picture of a cannon on the wrapper. (NOTE: This is similar to the Cannon Orb from MARIO PARTY 7.) If the player uses it, the cannon sends them to the end of the board (but one space near the Green Space with the cannon --in which the Pirate Goombas sends the player to the start). (NOTE: This candy is exclusive to the Party Tent version of Goomba's Greedy Gala.) This candy is worth 10 or 15 coins (if bought at a candy shop).

3. RED BOO CANDY: Has a picture of a Pink Boo on the wrapper. (NOTE: This is similar to the Boo Bell, Boo's Crystal Ball, Chain Chomp Capsule, and Pink Boo Orb from MARIO PARTY 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7.) When used, a Red Boo appears. The player can steal coins for 5 coins or 50 coins to steal a star. The most coins the player can steal is 30 coins (similar to the Boo Area from MARIO PARTY 1 or Chain Chomp Capsule from MARIO PARTY 5). The victim can lose less coins by rapidly pressing "A" on their Wii Remote. But if the Red Boo steals a star, the victim cannot fight back. (NOTE: This candy is exclusive to DK's Treetop Temple and King Boo's Haunted Hideaway.) This candy (like the Bitsize Candy) can only be found on a Candy Area Space. This candy is worth 20 coins (if bought at a candy shop). But it costs 15 coins at discounted prices (and if the player is in last place). And if Spear Guy (via the Green Space at DK's Treetop Temple) decides to buy the player's Star Candy, he gives them 20 coins (15 if it was 15 coins).

4. RED BOO REPELLENT CANDY: Has a picture of a Red Boo crossed out on the wrapper. (NOTE: This is similar to the Boo Repellent, Gaddlight, Bone Capsule, and Boo Away Orb from MARIO PARTY 3, 4, 5, and 6.) This candy is one of the two candies which are used automatically. The victim can spray gas at the Red Boo when he is after their stars or coins. And the player (who summoned the Red Boo) ends up wasting 5 coins (to steal coins) or 50 coins (to steal a star) for nothing. (NOTE: This candy is exclusive to DK's Treetop Temple and King Boo's Haunted Hideaway.) This candy (like the Bitsize Candy) can only be found on a Candy Area Space. This candy is worth 15 coins (if bought at a candy shop). But it costs 10 coins at discounted prices (and if the player is in last place). And if Spear Guy (via the Green Space at DK's Treetop Temple) decides to buy the player's Star Candy, he gives them 15 coins (10 if it was 10 coins).

5. BONE CANDY: Has a picture of a dog bone on the wrapper. (NOTE: This is similar to the Snack Orb from MARIO PARTY 6.) This candy is the second of the two candies which can be used automatically (after the RED BOO REPELLENT CANDY). The victim (if the player who is in the Bowser or Bullet Bill transformation --using the Bullet or Bowser Candy) can throw a bone at the player in the Bowser suit or Bullet Bill transformation when they are after their stars. And the player (in the Bowser suit or Bullet Bill transformation) ends up wasting their Bullet or Bowser Candy for nothing. (NOTE: Like how the Snack Orb is exclusive to the MARIO PARTY 6 board Snowflake Lake, the Bone Candy is exclusive to Bowser's Warped Orbit.) This candy is worth 15 coins (if bought at a candy shop). But it costs 10 coins at discounted prices (and if the player is in last place).

The Star Candy is the only candy out of these 4 which can be found in Star Battle Arena. All the others are only found on Party Tent version. Also, the two candies (RED BOO and RED BOO REPELLENT) are only found on a Candy Space (similar to the Bitsize Candy). The CANNON, RED BOO, RED BOO REPELLENT, and BONE CANDIES (along with the DUELO CANDY) are the five candies which can be found in Party Tent. But the STAR CANDY can be found in both the Party Tent and Star Battle Arena versions. Also, two of the candies (on the ORANGE CANDIES) are hidden on more than one board (that being, DK's Treetop Temple and King Boo's Haunted Hideaway). That is, the RED BOO and RED BOO REPELLENT CANDY.

The reason why the Star Candy is hidden on just DK's Treetop Temple is because the board DK's Treetop Temple is the only board which uses the classic Mario Party series formula (that is, getting to a Star Space and trading 20 coins for a star).

So if the "Dark Star" part for the Party Tent versions of King Boo's Haunted Hideaway, Shy Guy's Perplex Express, and Bowser's Warped Orbit (and the Star Battle Arena version of Bowser's Warped Orbit) AND the five orange candies did exist and occur in the game, I would have played completely different if that had been the case.
