This isn’t just Texas bro, it’s all of America.

It's not the homeless people that's making Texas or another State. It's the rising cost of living that creates these situations.

Most Americans are one pay check away from being homeless. I've been there myself.

This country is beyond feeling any shame. People who have worked hard all of their lives and paid taxes, because of a bad break, end up living like throwaways. Yet our taxes go to foreign aid and military spending and everything else that won’t help American citizens in need. America is falling apart.😮

America should focus on internal affairs rather than intervening in foreign countries.

We have a weak city council, mayor and manager. Plus the DA is very soft on crime. Stay away from Austin Texas.

I've been homeless.
Twice I don't do drugs or drink. I'm disabled I could barely make ends meet so any moment. I can be homeless again. I don't wish that on anyone I lived in a tent with my mom 85 dying of cancer. But 9 months before she died, she passed on 1/26/24 I finally got a us place And I feel blessed to have this place even though it's a run down 1 bed trailer. Almost a $1000 a month.
But it's home for now. She was so happy we got a place To her it was a mansion. I got to have one last Thanksgiving and Christmas & New Year's 😢

IT is because of lack of affordable housing. All the big companies came in and rents soared. We do not have adequate mental health or physical resources.

It's not city specific. It's everywhere. People packing up and blaming a location is short sighted. This is everywhere, and the topics need to be addressed on a nationwide scale.

The cost of an average home is Austin is over $500, 000. Not the same place anymore.

Homelessness is not the problem, it's the cost of living. Let the truth be told👍

I am a native Texan and I am 59. Austin should not have changed to California housing prices.

Homelessness is not just a California problem, it’s a world wide problem that no one seems to want to fix!

My family became homeless as well.
I still kept my job and still got my child to school on top of finding resources to help us survive.
We had a car to call home and I found a friend to foster our fur babies; I paid her for the boarding and bought food and supplies. Everyday I would care for them too. Rent is too high and the utilities are just as bad. Groceries, I only buy condiments and spices. Most of my food comes from food pantries. Money is redirected to tp and cleaning supplies and our fur babies.
We spent nearly 5 months homeless.
We almost froze in the car despite keeping it running.
Fortunate I found us a place just as a blizzard made it's way to us.
I had already decided to grab our babies and drive to a warm place and start over.
Something has to change.
I met a girl out there, I hope she made it out there. She left a violent domestic situation. It is so hard to get into shelters.

Austin has looked, acted, like California for decades.
