This started out being the very best explanation of 7ths I've seen. And yet, as a presentational matter, the graphic at 5:36 regarding half-diminished chords, is sadly faulty. It does not depict the minor 3rd or clarify that the "diminished" applies only to the 5th. Why are these simple concepts so elusive?

What's the actual purpose of of calling the note a double flat other than to make things more confusing than need be.
Also the full dim is taken from the harmonic minor scale and not the natural one that the half dim fits nicely in.
Something to do with that fact maybe?

Ben can you explain why a dominant 7th chord is called a "dominant" 7th chord. I understand the 7th is a minor 7th. Why called "dominant"??

There are two other types but their less common. Their the min-maj 7th and aug-maj 7th chords
