Andy Woods - Why I am not a Calvinist: Part III

Dr. Andy Woods from Chafer Theological Seminary touches briefly upon the topic of Calvinism. They believe in a five point philosophical system that is forced upon scripture rather than flowing from the scripture itself. They practise eisegesis instead of exegesis. On the surface, their five points that go by the acronym of TULIP (a reference to the Dutch origins of the synod of Dordt), seem pretty okay except for Limited Grace (L). But when poking into the Calvinistic fire a little more, a very strange philosophical system surfaces that conveys what they actually believe by TULIP.

This is not Andy Woods’ official channel. Andy Woods' videos are used with the permission of Andy Woods Ministries.

Thanks Andy Wood. It is soooo refreshing to hear the simple truth of God's plan of salvation. It's simple so even a child can understand it. God's truth attracts Calvinist fools like flies to a manure pile! Keep up the good work.

It is interesting to note that while first-generation Brethren leaders rejected the notion that formal theological education was a necessary qualification to preach the gospel, in Mackintosh we see an hostility to formal and systematic theology. He could say: ‘You can no more systematize the truth of God than you can systematize God Himself. Let us abandon, therefore, all systems of theology and schools of divinity, and take the truth… For ourselves we desire to be taught exclusively by scripture, and not by any school of divinity.’

One final point worth noting is Mackintosh’s rejection of ‘the repulsive doctrine of reprobation’, characteristic of high and hyper-Calvinism. He wrote: ‘There is no such thing in Scripture as any decree of God consigning a certain number of the human race to eternal damnation.

Jesus not only died for you, but he died for your sins, and rose for your justification.

The Calvinist children's hymn:

"Jesus loves me, this I know.
As for you, I don't think so.
Only some to Him belong.
We are right and you are wrong.

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
But I hope this isn't effervescent grace that I'm walking in and instead I'm actually deceived and one of the reprobates that He created to burn as a candle for His glory in Hell forever."

Easy understanding. Thanks-
It seems like almost every church in our 3 valleys have now turned to reformed or Calvinism. I just don’t get it… there really isn’t any hope in that thinking.

Could someone please give me their own personal story?

I ask and ask but NO ONE WILL ANSWER ME, IT SHOULD BE SIMPLE!

My question is this.
Are you sure you are one of those who are predestined for Heaven?
How do you know you are one of the Elect?
What did it feel like before you were regenerated and had no faith?
What did it feel like after you were regenerated and had faith?
At what age in you life did that happen?
How does it feel to know you are chosen and most of the human race are not?

Question: Can you provide an example, within the New Testament, of an Apostle going to unbelievers and saying “Jesus Christ died for you, ” as a means of evangelism? Do we ever see anywhere within the New Testament a proclamation to a group of unbelievers, as a method of evangelism, where James, Paul, John, Jude, Peter, Luke, Mark, or any other disciple/elder says “Jesus died on the cross for you! Now, accept Jesus into your heart!”

While I so appreciate this input, you have gone into great detail before about believing in the doctrine of election and how it is true. So I'm confused by you saying that all people are saveable. I do want them to be but how does it square with election? Thank you for all you do though.

According to Calvinism, God creates many people, gives them absolutely no opportunity to be saved, and then casts them into hell to experience eternal damnation. What does this say about God’s character? It says that God delights in creating people simply in order to see them be tormented for all eternity. Surely this is a monstrous picture of God’s character that is radically incompatible with who God has revealed Himself to be in Jesus Christ, the God who is Love (I John 4:8).

The whole world may be savable but we know that isnt going to happen.

God calls whom He will just as He chose Israel to be his nation through whom the rest of the world would have to go through and i dont hold that against Him, He is and I'm not so election makes no difference to me. I dont know who he calls or doesnt so convict em all and let God sort it out.
