She never had a mental breakdown. She was just exhausted from being overworked by the record company she was signed to. It was more of a physical crash due to lack of sleep. Had they allowed to sleep for a few hours, she would’ve been fine. I understand it so well because it’s happened to me where i havn’t slep for day literally.

It spawned 2 #1 songs with We belong together sitting in #1 position of the Billboard Hot 100 for 14 weeks and Dont forget about us for 2 weeks, Shake it off the 2nd single only reached the #2 position because of We belong together's massive success, these made her the first artist in history to hold the #1 and #2 positions in the Hot 100 before Billboard changed the rules. The Emancipation of Mimi sold over 10 million copies worldwide, 11 Grammy nominations and Billboard crowned We belong together as song of the decade making Carey the only artist to have multiple songs awarded "Song of the decade", a record she still holds today.

She was 35 she does that to listen to herself for notes . She still sounds great today just like anyone she has her off moments . when she’s not rested and her nodules are acting up . She still can sing these auto tuned girls under the table .

35 y.o. In 2005 😉. After the Glitter Fiasco, she was let go from her brand but $100+ million contract with Virgin Records. She countersues & is awarded around $26mil in compensation. She is then signed by Island/Def Jam Records, L.A. Reid was CEO at the time. Goes on to release Charmbracelet, also a 2 Disc Remixes Album as well before releasing Emancipation of Mimi. She worked closely with Jermaine Dupree on this album.
