i remember killing a grunt in some halo game and another grunt shouted "you killed my bestfriend" or "that was my bestfriend" i still remember it to this day. i feel bad for them.

I think ONI/UNSC are underutilizing the potential of the grunts. They just want survival, a few did fight for the covenant after it broke up but most were just in it out of fear. Perhaps if Halo humanity provided them with a better life, they would serve us better than they served the covanant.
