.NET to the Core: Microsoft Q# and Azure Quantum with Johnny Hooyberghs

In the last couple of years, there has been a lot of talk around quantum computing. This year, in 2021, Microsoft has released their preview of Azure Quantum. Today, you cannot only run quantum programs on a simulated environment with Q# and .NET, but you can also write your Q# and target an actual physical quantum computer on Azure Quantum.

In this presentation, Johnny will give you a quick walkthrough the theory of quantum computing, including a little bit of much needed mathematics. Don't be afraid, mathematics is the tool for quantum and it will help you understand its complexity. To make things more practical, Johnny will give you an overview of Microsoft Q# and Azure Quantum, and very quickly he will dive deeper into a more complex simulated Q# algorithm and he will show you how to run Q# programs on Azure Quantum by using the Azure CLI. Finally, Johnny will talk about the Microsoft Quantum Inspired Optimization platform available with Azure Quantum and how to use it from Python.
