I called in a buck/doe pair into 25 yards. I was drawn on her. He stepped out, I swung to him, she busted and ran. He didn't see anything, casually followed her. I hit the ol grunt call again he came in to less than 10 yards on the opposite side of a cedar tree fence row that I was standing against.

In that same breath, on a different property a week prior to that I grunt called from a 16 foot ladder stand and I got picked out like I was flagging him down. I never moved a muscle and this was my first encounter with him out of that stand. He never busted but man he came in fighting mad.

Whitetail calls aren't loud so they've gotta be within ear shot in the first place for them to work.

I don’t care what anyone says, there’s no consistency in calling white tail no matter how good you are. Muley and elk are a different story.

Northern Maine here I've killed two big bucks by calling them in I will say it depends on the deer if it's an old Buck that's king of his property you're going to be able to call him in if he's biggest buck on that property and also depends where they are and rut but if you want to get a monster buck calling is the way to go because that monster buck wherever he's living and he wants to come see what's going on who's in his territory

This year i called a bull elk from 1 mile to 35 five yards in under a minute on forservice in Montana
