This is a biology/anatomy video for Grade 10-11 students about Blood Pressure, its causes and effects. The pressure with which blood flows in the blood vessels is called Blood Pressure or BP. BP is measured using a special device called Sphygmomanometer.

Water flows with a higher pressure when you connect a tube to a pump set operating in your field or house

also the tubes burst open if the pressure is very high, similarly when the heart pumps blood into the systemic aorta or into the pulmonary trunk. the blood flows with pressure in the blood vessels:
the pressure with which the blood flows in the blood vessels is called the blood pressure or usually called as BP.

arteries receive blood from the heart so blood pressure is higher in the arteries. the blood pressure gradually decreases as blood flows into capillaries, when this blood is collected into veins blood pressure is greatly reduced. so blood pressure is less in the veins when compared to the arteries.

blood pressure is measured using an instrument we call as a sphygmomanometer. blood pressure levels are written in the form of 120 by 80 this is a normal blood pressure the numerator 120 represents systolic pressure and the denominator 80 represents diastolic pressure. During the systolic, when the ventricles contract the blood is pumped into the arteries so the blood pressure in the arteries increases immediately after the systolic. this rise and the blood pressure in the arteries is called he systolic blood pressure. When the diastolic occurs, more blood is pumped by the heart the blood vessels return to the normal diameter and maintain blood pressure at a lower level. this is diastolic pressure.

hypertension or high blood pressure in some people, the blood pressure will be very high more than the usual 120 by 80 such a condition is called hypertension usually called high BP. one of the reasons for this is the blocking of arteries by cholesterol, constant stress and strain for a long time, improper functioning of kidneys, smoking and alcohol, consumption are also the reasons for hypertension. this condition if not treated for a long time may also lead to other health problems and it may even lead to critical cases like death. Diet control, moderate exercise and avoiding stress, smoking, and alcohol consumption as well as taking appropriate medicine will help control this problem.

Does drinking fewer sugary drinks lower blood pressure?
Is it correct or not? Explain

In the video, diastolic pressure is incorrectly stated. The heart doesnt pump during diastolic. The diastolic reading, or the bottom number, is the pressure in the arteries when the heart rests between beats. This is the time when the heart fills with blood and gets oxygen.

Please explain why legs have high pressure then upper body parts. Is it because of gravity?

I am a grade 11 student and I wanted to point out that at 1:47, isn't the visual misleading because blood enters the atria through the vena cavae or pulmonary veins instead of the aorta or pulmonary arteries, which then pumps the blood to the ventricles?

okey.. so does it lead to heart attack if you drink too much?

I am only 18 and today in the evening i checked my blood pressure with electronic pulse checker. I was doing a little bit of physical activity before i checked my pressure. It was SYS 144 DIA 85 and Pulse 111. Later that evening i did a workout. And after 2h after the workout i stayed relaxed and i got SYS 127 DIA 59 and Pulse 106. I don't know if it is normal, and it seems that it changes rapidly... During more intense workout my heart feels like pumping really strong. Is it normal?
