Trace A Simple Snowflake With A Hot Glue Gun To Create Adorable Last Minute Ornaments
Показать описание
Glue is usually just a tool used by crafters to stick things together, to hold things in place. It’s a valuable tool if you’re a crafter, but it usually stays unseen. In fact, you usually don’t want the glue to be visible.
This particular craft is the exception; it’s all about the glue, and gives our favorite craft helper a spot in the limelight. It makes for a strikingly effective but totally simple DIY ornament that will make your tree (or your windows, or wherever) sparkle like new-fallen snow. The best part is that you can make them as simple or as complex as you like.
Check out the instructions below and watch the video to see how it’s done in action.
Materials:
Hot glue gun and glue
Glitter (We used white, but feel free to experiment!)
Wax or parchment paper
Printouts or stencils of snowflakes
String or ribbon
Instructions:
Print out some simple outlines of snowflakes. Be sure to print in black or dark ink.
Place a piece of wax or parchment paper over the printout.
Using the hot glue from the hot glue gun, trace the outline of the snowflake as close as possible.
While the glue is still wet, sprinkle on enough glitter to coat it. Let cool and dry completely.
Gently peel away the wax or parchment paper and tap to remove any excess glitter. If the glue has made any errant threads, snip them off with scissors.
Get your ribbon or string and make a loop. Glue the open ends to the back of one arm of the snowflake and let dry.
Hang anywhere and let it sparkle!
You can experiment with all kinds of shapes, or try building up layers of glue for a 3-D effect.
You can also try using metallic or glitter glue for a slightly different look, or try adding sequins for extra shine. You can even use crayons in place of glue sticks to make colorful snowflakes.
It’s a great craft for kids, but make sure they’re supervised because the glue gets hot! Watch the video below to see how it’s done.
