The Girl Who Wears Gowns in Antarctica

The Girl Who Wears Gowns in Antarctica strikes again!! This was my third year wearing not one but two full on gowns in Antarctica!

And NO I don’t “just do it for the photos”!

First of all; I love wearing beautiful gowns.

Second, you’re supposed to dress up for the Captain’s Dinner. Maybe not in gowns, but we like to be Extra.

Third and most importantly, I first wore the gowns in Antarctica in 2017 on my first expedition, and I did it because after most Antarctic companies said they didn’t want to work with me because young women weren’t their demographic, I wanted to show that I could be young, female, and feminine, and still also be highly interested in extreme adventures and destinations.

It was definitely a “Oh look, I’m here. 💃” moment.

After that, what do ya know! About 100 young women wanted to also go to Antarctica with me! So to make a statement, I brought even bigger gowns.

Some of the proudest moments I’ve had in my career though, was seeing nearly all of the women on my trips also bring gowns, and we boldly wore them regardless of stares or whispers by some. Check my Travel Tribe acct to see all if their outfits (and the guys too haha).

Another proud moment was when I was about to walk into the cocktail lounge for the Captain’s speech in my sequin gown, and one of the expedition leaders who initially was not a fan of our attire, asked if he could escort me inside to my seat 🥰 So we walked arm in arm, grabbed a flute of champagne, and clinked glasses, which symbolized another huge victory for me and my brand, to finally get them to understand us! 💪

Oh also!! For anyone who thinks women who dress feminine can’t also do extreme adventures…the most difficult of all the activities I did was getting that dress on and posing right before a blizzard!

Anyway! Where’s my female extreme adventurers at???
