I love it. Our family is all Subaru, and mine is at 104, 000 miles with NO maintenance issues so far.

The turbo hood scoop tradition started with the XT/Vortex/Alcyone. Before that was the Leone RX Turbo, which didn't have a scoop. It's not necessarily the essence, but a tradition they've clearly stopped. It makes sense to feed the intercooler with air from the grill. There's less drag, nothing sticking out of the hood, and because of less drag, better MPG. I'm pretty sure they'll reserve the hood scoop for their more sporty vehicles, like the WRX and WRX STI.

In Japan, the same engine is being used in the Legacy 2.0 GT, except it is tuned up to ~290 hp.

We don't wear suits because we shot all of our own video. There's a definite dress divide between the photographers and the reporters in suits at a car show. We spend a lot more time behind the camera than in front of it at a show so we dress for the longer job.

I have the 08 xt with the hood scoop... I kinda like the fact they got rid of the scoop.. kinda gives it a sleeper look. Plus it probably help with the aerodynamics.

1) diesel engines last longer than it's gas counterpart 2) More torque 3) Get's in low 40 mpg, gas version mid 20's 4) I can run bio diesel in it and biodiesel can be made at home if you know what you're doing. I know someone who makes biodiesel at home for very cheap for their TDI beetle. They get the waste vegetable oil from fast food restaurants for free and add a few ingredients(lye and methanol).

Well at least the Forester XT now has XT-specific sportier-styling than the non-turbo variant. The difference in styling now is quite dramatic.

Awwww I always liked the hood scoop on the subaru turbo models (I have a 2006 wrx) it's disappointing new forester turbo doesn't have a hood scoop anymore =(

It will be great to see you guys try out the new forester on your Colorado off road trail !

Statistics show people who get diesel vehicles usually keep their vehicles well over 150000 because they know the longevity and pluses of a diesel enigine. Obviously you don't see the trend of these other car companies jumping into the diesel market in the US all of a sudden. And you're wrong on gas/ diesel prices being more in Europe than in the US. There are more diesel vehicles in Europe than in the US due to the strict emission standards in some states, not because it's unpopular.

there are after market hoods for this car with good scoops

the XT is better looking than the current model. I have a 08 XT.. I bought it over the current model which I think isn't appealing. All Subaru need to do is to bring the Diesel model to the US and I'm sold.

Do the 2014 Subaru Forester doors sound cheap and flimsy when you slam them? I love my 2004 Forester but recent years' Foresters appear and sound cheap and flimsy to me. Are they planning to merge the Forester into the Outback line (doing away with the Forester brand)?

I don't think the CVT is a bad choice, because the newer CVTs can also make the vehicle faster, and more fuel efficient. In fact most of today's automatic transmissions make vehicles faster and fuel efficient, with more gears than manual transmissions. Even CVTs can tow, just like the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder rated to tow at 5, 000 pounds.
