If truth be told, the Prof. deserves no sympathy. He is in good company. You choose your friends because you perceive them as having something in common with you. He chose to be with the people he is with. And, as you may well know:- *as you make your bed, so you must lie on it* .

The Prof. could have chosen to be with very different people and groups closer to his presumed worldview, but he made the choice to be in a team of vicious power-hungry vipers.

On a different note, I think that Prof is in that category of people who looked somehow formidable on paper, but faced with the reality of actual governing, he has surprisingly shown himself to be a total dweeb, wanting in stature as well as competence in the docket he was given.

And can you imagine he is one of the better ones in the Ruto's parade of dimwits saddled with ministerial functions they did not deserve, and which they can't discharge effectively?

Fred, you are absolutely right. Appointing Kindiki in that docket was suicidal to him. Ruto is an ill intentioned human-being. His bitterness & revenge couldn`t allow him to re-appoint such a competent man like Matiangi in the security docket.

Ruto should take Internal security docket to his office so that he can personally take responsibility. Alternatively KDF should be taken there to clean the mess as it was done in Mt Elgon.

Two things
1. Cattle rustling in that region was further complicated in 1976 at the formation of the Ngoroko by the Change constitution group lead by the Agikuyu and more specifically, Kihika Kimani and those close to Jomo Kenyatta in anticipation of the latter's death.
2. Ruto is a Moi student par excellence. Appoint them to positions they aren't qualified for and make them your puppets to allow you to pull strings from a vantage position with intention that if things go wrong, you have tacit deniability and let the public blame the appointee.
