In 1969, the Italian military delegation visited Germany to discuss the purchase of Leopard tanks. However, not all members of the delegation agreed with the purchase of foreign equipment. The Italian military and designers set out the main wishes for the future tank: decent armor tilt angles, a cast turret and gun mask, as well as a powerful engine from Mitsubishi suggested the creation of a small, lightweight, mobile, but perfectly protected vehicle. When designing, English and Soviet developments mined by SIFAR-SID were taken into account. The matter did not advance beyond the general drawings and calculations.
