I love how this parallels Simon leaving Marceline to protect her from what he'll become. "You'll have to stay brave my fearless Marceline"-Simon
"Marceline, you're there aren't you? Brave girl"-Elise. Further solidifying/proving why (in my opinon) Simon Petrikov is Marceline's true father/dad.

Wow, this was so much closure for her.

Thinking for 1000 years that she scared her Mom away and that fear made her abandon her. So she intentionally scared people away as a coping mechanism.
Until she listened to the message.
That the world is tough and its not going to change her because she has a good heart.

It was closure that her Mother didn’t abandon her out of fear. She left her because she was sick.

Also notice how she sucked that wolfs soul and thought thats what scared her Mom away.
After, she never sucked another soul. She only sucked Red.
