TV title:The Good Wife Season 3, Episode 9
TV synopsis:The story centers on politician Peter (Chris Noth), who is arrested and imprisoned for a sex and political scandal, and his wife Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies), who is forced to end her life as a “stay-at-home mom” and take on the role of supporting the family on her own. The negative publicity of her husband's betrayal is enough to make a woman of Alicia's stature ashamed to leave the house. Alicia, however, is not deterred by the difficulties, and not only does she have to throw her hat in the ring, but she also has to resume her pre-marital career as a defense attorney.
As a junior partner at a prestigious Chicago law firm, Alicia is welcomed back by her old friend Will Gardner (Josh Charles), a fellow law school classmate and senior member of the firm. He's happy to see Alicia back, and he wants to see how the former powerhouse will fare in the courtroom after thirteen years, and Alicia is flattered and grateful for the guidance she receives from one of the firm's top litigators, Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski), who is also the firm's top attorney. But she soon discovers that this “mentoring” comes with strings attached, and that Diane is not as “enthusiastic” as she seems. To be successful, Alicia has to rely on herself.
Alicia's main competition at the firm is a young man in his 20s named Cary (played by Matt Czuchry). He has recently graduated from Harvard and appears to be very friendly. In fact, he'll do anything to secure his position at the firm, the coveted “senior partner” position. If Alicia becomes a stumbling block for him, he will not hesitate to remove her. Fortunately, Alicia is not alone in the firm, as Kalinda (Archie Panjabi), who is in charge of forensics, is Alicia's strongest supporter.
“Alicia knows the meaning of the phrase “Confidence Every Day. It may have been a long road from despised politician's wife to reinvigorated career woman, but Alicia doesn't care. She has to live for herself and plan ahead for her 14-year-old son Zach (Graham Phillips) and 13-year-old daughter Grace (Makenzie Vega). For the first time in years, Alicia feels that her destiny is in her own hands, and that she is no longer the weak, bullying, manipulative 'good wife', but a free woman.
