I think Neil just hit the nail on the head. Kids need to get excited about learning and figuring out things on their own. We need to start grading a lot of kids based on what they can do. Not what they can memorize!

I only ever had one science teacher in grade school that encouraged us to have a discussion about things rather than teach them. The 3 years prior I had around a 55% grade for each semester. That year I finished my final with a 96%

Note: we have made much smoother spheres than the eaert scaled. Afbma ball grade 3 is round on all axis to and the variances in earth would be like 0.001" to 0.002"
